It’s been almost a
year since we launched Ripples of Love. In that time, with the help of our
wonderful community, we’ve delivered 155 Big Love Boxes, bags and baskets to nine
different organisations, who provide indispensable support for the most
vulnerable members of our community. The support our little organisation has
received since its inception has exceeded our wildest expectations. The
outpouring of love and generosity has moved us to tears on more than one
occasion and cemented in our hearts what we’ve always suspected to be true,
that the vast majority of people in our world are kind and compassionate souls who
want to help.
As highly sensitive
people, we know that it’s not always easy to find the balance between focussing
on the immeasurable beauty that exists in the world, while at the same time not
turning away from the great suffering that dwells alongside us. But while the
path may be difficult at times and fraught with confronting truths that leave
us feeling temporarily powerless, it’s our only way forward. Let’s accept the
valleys and hills of life with as much humility and love as we can muster, and
never forget that there are lessons to be learned in all experiences.
As Mother Teresa once
said, “If we have no peace it is because we have forgotten that we belong to
each other.” We are all inextricably connected. The world peace we yearn for
will only be possible if each and every one of us does something to address the
great injustices and inequalities that exist in our world. While this may seem
like a monumental task, it begins in our own hearts, in our own homes, and in
our own communities, by taking small, loving steps. One small act of kindness
can inspire a cascade of generosity and have a powerful ripple effect. Unconditional
love and kindness are powerful catalysts for change, which is why we’ve decided
to make April a month of conscious kindness.
Each day we will keep
the importance and power of kindness at the forefront of our minds by
consciously seeking out ways of expressing it, and we’ll share our experiences
on the blog.
We hope you’ll join us on this journey of conscious kindness in April! You can share your little acts of kindness with us in the comments below, or tell us about them on our Ripples of Love Facebook page. Together, we can help lift ourselves and others.
